Capoeira is a game from Brazil, played with your body and live music. Kids, teens and adults welcome, no experience needed. Your first class is free.

A little of each. Capoeira was born in Brazil. Two people play a game inside a circle called the roda, with kicks, escapes and acrobatics, while everyone around them sings and plays the berimbau, the pandeiro and the atabaque.
You move, you listen to the music, you answer your partner. It keeps your body strong and your mind awake, and it is a lot of fun.
Warm-up and ginga. Ginga is the swinging step everything in capoeira grows from. You learn it in the first minutes.
Kicks and escapes with a partner. Simple moves, practiced slowly with someone your level, at your own pace.
Music and songs. Berimbau, pandeiro and atabaque. You clap, you sing the answer, and soon you play.
The roda. Everyone in a circle, two people play in the middle. This is where it all comes together.
No. Most people think they need the skills before they start. It is the opposite: class is where you learn them. Nobody needs any skills for the first class.

Mestre Mindinho grew up in Rio de Janeiro. He started capoeira at 11 and was teaching by 17. He joined Grupo Capoeira Brasil in 1994, opened his first school in San Diego in 2002, and has taught in Palm Springs since 2018.
Classes are led by Mestre Mindinho with his instructors, in Grupo Capoeira Brasil, in the lineage of Mestre Paulinho Sabiá.
One of our students started capoeira at 63. A few months in, he walked into class smiling: that morning he had tied his own shoes, without help, for the first time in years.
